Methodology: Reductive Analyses of Libre Software
Many (perhaps most) social critiques of libre software approach libre software in a reductive fashion.
For example:
Libre software is inherently anti-capitalist.
Libre software is inherently capitalist.
Libre software is inherently a system about limiting capitalism.
(Remember these three examples. I'll come back them later.)
For reasons obvious to everyone here (and because no two of the above claims can be correct), this type reductive analysis is problematic.
