I cut off the tip of my thumb this year trying to open the plastic strapping around a knife… with another knife.

OMG! how come everytime I find something seemingly obvious to point out, in this case it isn’t photoshop its a plastic tie put on it by the buyer, I always scroll down and find just one person who has just said it…

…damn you stumble for coming across this page 7 hours 40 minutes to late…

All of you saying it is shopped are just being stupid. For one why would anyone waste the time on such a stupid picture. Two i have seen many a thing come packaged in idiotic ways. For god’s sake this if America. Enough said.

I’ve been to Ikea, and they’re clearly Gimped. I can tell from the pixels.

No, really. The hot girl at the pick-up door showed me her shading.

Wait, that’s a whole other story.

Anybody and everybody who claims this to be “Photoshopped” is a dumbass with absolutley no life to speak of, which is why they waste there time, saying the photo is photoshopped, It’s not, It’d be so much easier to put the plastie tie on oneself, then to photoshop it in, as other people have mentioned, if its faked, thats how he did it, but its not, IKEA really does sell those things, so shut the fuck up and go back to 4chan.

its really easy to take them off you just need something small, thin and pointy (super smokey puppy’s pen*s) like a pin. Inside the square of plastic where the other end of the tie comes through, on the ridged side of the tie, there is a smaller cube which clips into the ridges to stop the tie from loosening. Push this square away from the ridges and you can pull the tie loose.

    Dear Side A:

The first three photoshop comments were funny.

And I do mean the first three ever.

    Dear Side B:

They’re only messing around when they’re saying it’s photoshopped. Please stop trying to persuade them otherwise.

As much as I’d love to believe the photoshop idea, don’t you think if you wanted to call him a fraud you could’ve just said he put the piece of plastic on, and then took a picture?  Why is everything photoshop with you people?  Get a life.  Oh, and I’ve seen something similar, they were packaged in that hard plastic stuff that action figures and electronics (ex. flash drives) sometimes come in that you have to cut around the edges with a proper scissor. And I definitely believe the Ikea story, sounds like the stupid safety thing a store like Ikea would do.

    OMG
It’s true! I bought those scissors! Those are the old ones – mine broke, they have changed the design now, the new ones are amazing.
They really do come with the cable tie through both loops! It needs to be like that, as the blades come apart for easy cleaning, or they might fall apart before you got them home.

Love the photoshop comments.  It would be so much harder to just place a zip tie on the scissors than photoshop the pic!  Very funny.

Why the heck would he take the time to photoshop such an image when you can buy a box of that exact type of zip tie at home depot for like 2 bucks. i actually bought a special opener for the difficult plastic packaged stuff. it had to be one of the most difficult to open plastic package i have ever had the misfortune to buy… and the tool doesn’t even work. haha great pic

good job those scissors are tied, have you seen the angry little mouth they have, looks like it will eat you fingers if you open them.

And why are scissors plaural? i’ve never seen a scissor -though i’ve seen a spike with a hoop at one end

we should take all the S’s plaurilating the scissor and stick em on the end of sheep or fish when ever we see more than one at a time.

It may sound crazy but i’ve seen people on seasame street pull this kind of thing off all the time.

It is obviously photoshopped. As we know, Mako is a long time user of Adobe software including Photoshop. Furthermore, he is known for making things up and doing photoshop mock-ups to make his “Revealing Errors” blog more interesting. For instance, the follow up to his “blue screen of death” was an image of the “MacOSX flaming arrow of despair”, where he took the Beryl flames theme and pasted it on top of a screen shot of Leopard.

Mako’s absurd antics must be stopped. I’m starting a new blog called “revealing Mako” where we gather and collect all of the embarrassing things he does to feign originality.

This is most definitely photoshopped.  I ran the photo through PDTS (Photoshop detection technology software), and the results came back overwhelmingly positive.  On behalf of everyone on the intarwebs, stop faking your photos. Srsly.

Don’t know what to tell you. It’s not photoshopped. It’s taken with a pretty crappy phone camera — that’s why it’s pixelated. I cropped it, but that’s it. The big version isn’t even scaled.

It was done to make them slightly more secure while in the warehouse. Having the grips strapped together reduces the chances of somebody picking it up and using it as a weapon instore.

I bought a little cutting tool that’s designed for those incredibly tough clear plastic molded packaging things that so many things come in these days.  Take a wild guess how this tool was packaged.

If IKEA wanted to, they could easily figure out some way to strap their knifes, so that you’d have to cut something, in order to use the knife.

There’s no escape! You must buy their special handheld strap removal apparatus.
