The way Mark Shuttleworth signs his first name reminds me a lot of a khomut -- the Thai end of document character, which, I am willing to argue, is the coolest character in Unicode. I've included an image of both here because it's not in everyone's font:

You know, somebody should really do a "Unicode Codepoint Of The Day" weblog...  I'm sure there's lots of fascinating tidbits hidden in that vast space.

I bet you haven't noticed that the "ICE CREAM" sign posted by Oliver Grawert in this blog (also in Planet Ubuntu) has a very similar symbol at the right side:
