I've been talking recently to some folks from the Steinhardt School of Education at NYU.

The name of the institution makes me think. What sort of school is not a school of education?

I was about to say "A driving school" but then realised that you are being educated in the art of driving a car... By definition, a school is a place of education, so it does seem a little redundant.

Maybe it's a education raised by two. Like Education^2. But yes, it's quite redundant. ;p

Ben, I think you are the winner.

Although, to be completely accurate, I think the answer to the riddle is a "a school of fish." The collective noun for dolphins seems to be "pod."

If it's a school that teaches you to be an educator, then it's definitely a school of education. If it's a school that teaches you NOT to educate others (for job security or generally to maintain your superiority over them) then it's, err... not a school of education?
