And Debian Was Born Posted Mon, 22 Nov 2004

People think I'm joking when I say that if I ever have a child, I will name her (or him) Debian.

I'm not.

If I ever have a child, I might name her/him Brie.
Ah ha, and in the context would be wise to wait 3years for a "new release" unlike GNU/Linux Debian where many people may not agree!
That's a good compromise.  You can give her the nickname Deb, or him the nickname Ian.
I've always liked Ada as a name for a girl, but there's no way my partner will go for that... well not after she hears the origins.

Plus, it does sound quite old-fashioned.
Naming your kid Debian - doesn't it sound too much like Damian? I've never known a Damian that wasn't Evil - but I could just be watching too much television.
:)
You'd get some great nerdly jokes... "Children should be seen but not HURD" and so on.
Congratulations,a great name.To name my borning child Linux is my dream, but i won't:)
Well

I think you're not the first who named "Debian" a children.

There's a Mexican Birth Certificate from a friend's son. My friend and I were members of a Mexican Linux User Group located at Southern Baja ;)
